Ideas and options for the future transport network in Dairy Flat, Silverdale and Wainui

Feedback open during 2018

During 2018, we asked for feedback on ideas and options for the future transport network in Dairy Flat, Silverdale and Wainui. We talked to the community, Manawhenua, transport stakeholders and local boards. We held public open days, meetings and hui, and received both written and verbal feedback.

Summary of feedback

  • There was strong support for a Rapid Transit Network north of Albany to both Silverdale and Orewa
  • Safety and separation are seen as important principles for a walking and cycling network, and people are particularly interested in urban and scenic routes
  • Most people support bus shoulder lanes being added to SH1 between Albany and Silverdale, and like the idea of any new lanes on State Highway 1 being added as "managed" or priority lanes. There was strong interest in the proposed upgrades to motorway interchanges
  • There is overall support for upgrades to the existing road network, including new connections across the motorway that will better connect the new and current areas.

How we used your feedback

Feedback was used alongside safety, environmental, traffic and technical data to help shape an indicative strategic transport network for North Auckland's growth areas, which was released in 2019.
