Mill Road (Bombay) - Pukekohe East Road Upgrade
This new road will be an upgrade of Mill Road (Bombay) to four lanes between the SH1 interchange and Harrisville Road. This new road will tie in with the proposed upgrade of the Bombay Interchange being investigated by Waka Kotahi.
Mill Road (Bombay) is a key freight route, and traffic volumes are predicted to reach up to 32,000 vehicles per day by 2048. Mill Road (Bombay) and Pukekohe East Road are important strategic connections in and out of Pukekohe, and to and from nearby areas in the Waikato and beyond.
The upgrade will include facilities for people on foot and on bikes.
Reasons the preferred option is favoured include:
- Limiting impacts on the local centre on Mill Road at the SH1 Bombay Interchange.
- Reducing impacts on ecological features.
